Blanket Day 2002
The first Blanket Day for the Monterey Bay Chapter was wonderful! In spite of the rain, many came out to help. The generous gift of time and love each gave to Project Linus is very much appreciated. At the end of the day we counted the fruit of our labor, and found that a total of 45 blankets were collected, fifteen of which were actually made that day.
Already seven blankets have been delivered and many more are on their way to the Women's Crisis Center and the Department of Social Services. There will be a lot more deliveries in the weeks ahead to other agencies here in our community. I will keep all of you posted as the deliveries are made.
The Monterey Bay Community has been enormously kind and generous. I would like to thank the following businesses and church that gave so generously; Doubletree Hotel, Church of God, International, Picante! By Heirlooms, Inc., Beverly Fabrics, Hand to Heart, The Monterey Herald, Clear Channel Radio, Carmel High School, Trotter's Antiques and Yolanda's Hair Salon.
I hardly know where to begin in thanking the many volunteer blanketeers for their expressions of support through the gift of blankets that were delivered on the day and the many who spent the day making blankets and the numerous blankets that I continue to be delivered at our various drop spots. I just want to give a huge thank you to each and everyone of you. Because of your support many children here in our community will now receive a warm hug through the gift of these blankets when they need it most.
It is an honor and privilege for me to serve as the coordinator for the Monterey Bay Chapter of Project Linus. Thank you once again to all of you who made the first Monterey Bay Chapter Blanket Day for Project Linus such a wonderful success.
